GBI Crime Lab to Begin Outsourcing Some Drug Cases

According to a recent Operations Report, the GBI Crime Lab began outsourcing drug analysis for a limited number of drug cases to an outside vendor.  Other than to identified that the private laboratory is to be qualified and accredited, no additional information has been provided about the program at this time.  Criminal defense attorneys should be prepared to look at drug reports closely and determine the qualifications and compensation arrangements of these private scientists.
