2017 Law Update - Prescription Drug Monitoring Program

HB 249 sets in motion the creation of a prescription drug monitoring program under the Georgia Department of Public Health. The new program will create a database of prescribing information for substances under Schedules II, III, IV and IV of the controlled substances.  

The database will be accessible by certain health care providers and other government officials.

Unauthorized access to the database will constitute a criminal offense
